Rich Gibson serves as the Democratic State's Attorney for Howard County, Maryland. He was first sworn into office on January 7, 2019, becoming the first Black State's Attorney in the county's history. Following his re-election, Gibson began his second term on January 3, 2023. His legal career started after he earned his law degree from Howard University School of Law. Prior to his current position, he gained extensive prosecutorial experience in both Prince George's County and Baltimore City. While in Baltimore, he handled homicide cases and was a member of the Major Investigations Unit. Gibson also holds a Bachelor of Science in Law and Justice from The College of New Jersey.
