Richard Marcellais is a Democratic State Senator for North Dakota's District 9, serving since December 2024 and previously from 2006 to 2022. He is seeking re-election in the 2026 primary election. A Vietnam veteran, Marcellais has a background in business administration and owns several small businesses including Marcellais Computer Services. He has a long history of public service, including chairing the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, and currently works as a Veteran Service Officer. His legislative focus areas include Human Services, Transportation, Agriculture, and Veterans Affairs. He resides in Belcourt, ND, with his wife Betty, and they have two children and nine grandchildren.
