His professional background includes owning a nuclear safety consulting firm, RJ Nuclear Operations Consulting. Jansons is a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the nuclear submarine program from 1984 to 1990. He has also served as the Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity and owned a home construction business. His educational background includes studies at the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power School, Washington State University Tri-Cities, and Western Washington University. He has been deeply involved in the community, serving as board president for Leadership Tri-Cities and as a member of the Richland Public Facility District Board.
