Rick Pate, born April 6, 1955, in Fort Rucker, Alabama, is the incumbent 30th Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries for Alabama, a role he assumed in January 2019. A Republican, he previously served as mayor of Lowndesboro and chaired the Lowndes County Republican Party. Pate graduated from Auburn University's School of Agriculture, operated Pate Landscape Company for 38 years, and grew up on a family cattle farm. Married to Julie Dismukes, he has two children. Due to term limits, Pate announced his candidacy for Alabama Lieutenant Governor in the 2026 Republican Primary on June 2, 2025. He aims to support the "American First Agenda," promoting thriving families, agriculture, and conservative values with "hands-on leadership."
