Ritchie John Torres is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for New York's 15th congressional district since 2021. He previously served on the New York City Council from 2014 to 2020. Raised in the Bronx by a single mother in a public housing project, Torres became New York City's youngest elected official in 2013 and later the first openly gay Afro-Latino member of Congress. He currently serves on the House Committee on Financial Services.
