Robert Andeweg

Robert "Bob" Andeweg has served as the Mayor of Urbandale, Iowa, since he was first elected in 2005. His current term is set to expire on December 31, 2025. Prior to becoming mayor, he was a City Council Person from 2000 to 2005 and also served as a commissioner and chairperson for the Urbandale Planning and Zoning Commission. Andeweg is a graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute and Leadership Iowa. In his professional life outside of public service, he works as a legislative counsel and in commercial real estate at the Nyemaster Goode law firm, representing clients before the Iowa legislature and other state agencies. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Central College. Andeweg was a lifelong Republican until he changed his party registration to Democratic in 2019, citing the Republican party's disregard for local control as a key reason.
