Robert Leutwyler was born and raised in Texas. He is a U.S. Army veteran who served as an Infantry Platoon Leader in Afghanistan, earning a Bronze Star Medal. He moved to Washington in 2011 and became a Lynnwood homeowner in 2018. Leutwyler earned an MBA from the University of Washington's Foster School of Business and works as a program manager in the financial benefits industry. Prior to his council appointment, he served on the Lynnwood Planning Commission. He currently serves as Council Liaison to the Parks & Rec Board, as well as the DEI Commission.
