Robert P. Trivette is the Chief District Court Judge for North Carolina's 1st Judicial District, appointed to the bench in 2009. His career includes serving as an assistant district attorney in Dare County from 1991 to 2003, working in private practice with the firm Vandeventer Black, LLP in Kitty Hawk, and clerking for Judge Gerald Arnold of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He earned a bachelor's degree from Virginia Intermont College in 1981, a master's degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law in 1989.
