Rodger M. Smitherman

Rodger M. Smitherman is an incumbent Democratic member of the Alabama State Senate, representing District 18. He assumed office in 1994 and is seeking re-election for the 2026 term, with the Democratic primary for his office having been canceled. Smitherman earned his B.B.A. from the University of Montevallo and a J.D. from Miles Law School. His legislative interests include business and labor, finance and taxation education, judiciary matters, local legislation, and small business. He currently serves until November 2026.
