Ronnie Smith was first elected to the Martin County Board of Commissioners in 2002 and his current term expires in 2026. He is a retired United States Air Force officer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Intermediate Education from Fayetteville State University and two master's degrees from Webster University in Industrial Management and Human Relations. Smith has served in various leadership roles, including as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Martin County Board of Commissioners and as President of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) for 2020-2021.
