Ruben Amaya is a Democratic candidate running for Baltimore County Council in District 2. A lifelong resident of Reisterstown, Amaya has a history of public service. He served as President of the Baltimore County Student Councils, representing over 118,000 students, and was a Commissioner for the Maryland Commission on the School-to-Prison Pipeline and Restorative Practices. Appointed by Governor Wes Moore, he serves as the Third Vice-Chair for the Maryland Democratic Party. His campaign for County Council focuses on addressing issues such as housing affordability, economic mobility, and strengthening public schools. He is a graduate of Stevenson University with a degree in legal studies.
