Ruth Pérez

Ruth Pérez was first appointed to the Renton City Council in 2014, becoming the first Latina and immigrant to serve on the body. She was subsequently elected in 2015, 2017, and 2021. Born and raised in Mexico City, she has lived in Renton for over 17 years. Pérez holds a BA in Communications and an MBA. Her career includes work as a television reporter, editor-in-chief of three magazines, and roles with former Governor Gary Locke and the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle. She is currently a partner in a Government Affairs Consulting LLC. She and her husband, Al, live in the Snake Hill Neighborhood.
