Elected to the Massachusetts State Senate in 2014 after serving two terms in the Massachusetts House of Representatives (2011–2014) and two terms as a Sutton selectman. He is the first Republican to win the former Worcester-Norfolk Senate seat since 1938, and serves as Assistant Minority Leader. Married to Stephanie K. Fattman; the couple has four children.
