Ryan O'Larey was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. He graduated as valedictorian from West Albany High School in Oregon in 2002 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 2006. He has had a 13-year career at BP, including at the Cherry Point refinery, focusing on Environmental Engineering, compliance, and Wastewater Treatment Process Engineering. He has experience managing budgets similar in size to the City of Ferndale's. His community service includes volunteering with Ferndale Cub Scouts, the God Water charity, and at Eagleridge Elementary.
