Sally Espinoza was appointed to serve as a Judge in the Los Angeles County Superior Court by Governor Gavin Newsom on September 30, 2024. Prior to her appointment, she was a Deputy Attorney General V at the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General, starting in 2017, and held various roles there since 2011, including Deputy Attorney General and Legislative Advocate. She also served as a Deputy Legal Affairs Secretary in the offices of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. from 2008 to 2011. Espinoza began her legal career as a Deputy Public Defender at the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office, where she served from 2004 to 2008. Before law school, she was a Legislative Consultant and a Legislative Aide for California State Senator and Assemblymember Deborah V. Ortiz. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco.
