Sam McKenzie is an incumbent Democratic member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing District 15 since 2020. He is seeking re-election in the 2026 primary. Currently serving as Democratic Whip and having chaired the Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators, McKenzie is also a small business owner and professional youth sports official. He previously served on the Knox County Commission for eight years and retired after a 34-year career at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. McKenzie holds degrees in physics from Fisk University and the University of Memphis. He serves on the Joint Education, Health and General Welfare Committee and the House Ethics Committee, and sponsored legislation regarding biomarker testing coverage.
