Sam Yun

My name is Sam Yun and I am a sophomore in Fine Arts with a minor in Business. I joined CBR in Fall' 24 and served as Head of Design this past Spring' 25 semester. I have gained valuable expertise from my role as well as the desire to continue making our CBR issues look as good as they read. Through my Fine Arts coursework and personal practice, I am experienced with the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator). I am attuned to the fine, petty details in creating a magazine (constant proofreading, text spacing, formatting margins, color grading images/photographs). That being said, the design component of our publication is complex and time-intensive--such as the consolidation of images, cover design, and any creative decisions relating to text/colors/themes. Moving forward, my goals as Head of Design include increasing collaboration between writers and creatives as well as forming a design team. With a design team specifically set in place, I would like to have more members contributing their creative talents; this team would be in charge of monitoring themes relevant to each semester and developing the creative components of the publication: cover, images, photos, layouts. While individuals with existing experience in design/digital work are preferred, I welcome any members wishing to learn more of these skills and see them applied directly. As Head of Design, my priority will be opening up space for anyone and everyone who wishes to play a role in shaping the work CBR produces.
