Sara Nelson is the current President of the Seattle City Council, representing the at-large Position 9 since her election in 2021. Prior to her election, she worked as a policy staff member for former councilmember Richard Conlin from 2002 to 2013. She is also the co-founder of Fremont Brewing. Nelson holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Washington.
