Satana Deberry is the District Attorney for Durham County, first sworn into office on January 1, 2019. She earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from Princeton University, a Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law, and a Master of Business Administration from Duke's Fuqua School of Business. Her career includes experience as a criminal defense attorney, General Counsel for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, and executive director of the North Carolina Housing Coalition. In 2024, she was a candidate for North Carolina Attorney General, losing in the Democratic primary.
