Scott K. Skidmore was appointed as a District Court Judge for Judicial District 22 by Governor Josh Stein in March 2025, filling a vacancy. He is a native of Stanly County, North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1989 and his Juris Doctor from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1992. For over three decades prior to his appointment, he was a partner at the law firm Farver, Skidmore & Hux, LLP (formerly Gwyn, Gwyn & Farver, L.L.P.), where his practice focused on criminal defense, real estate, and traffic matters. He has served as president of the Rockingham County Bar Association and has been a member of the North Carolina Bar Association's Criminal Defense section. His community involvement includes serving on the boards of the Reidsville Housing Authority and the Reidsville Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
