Scott Matthew Black

Scott Matthew Black is an independent candidate for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District, from Whitefield. A career bartender with more than four decades in the hospitality industry (including over 30 years at the Woodstock Inn and 25 years at Cannon Mountain), he is a first-term member of the Whitefield Select Board and previously ran for the same seat in 2022 as a Republican. Raised by a single mother in Carroll, N.H., he describes himself as a moderate who believes voters have more in common than political divisions suggest. He enrolled at Plymouth State as a nontraditional student at age 30 and graduated magna cum laude with a marketing degree and pre-law minor. He says his priorities are checks and balances in government and getting the federal budget under control.
