Scott Peters is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative from California's 50th congressional district since 2023. He previously represented the 52nd congressional district from 2013 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, Peters served two terms on the San Diego City Council from 2000 to 2008 and was its first council president. He earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his JD from New York University School of Law.
