Sean Michael Dougherty is the incumbent Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 172nd District, assuming office in January 2025. Born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia, he graduated from Chestnut Hill College and earned a J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2019. Before his election to the state legislature, Dougherty served as a judicial law clerk for the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and worked as an assistant public defender in Philadelphia.
