Shanie P. Shields

Shanie P. Shields, a Democrat, represents District 1 on the Wicomico County Council in Maryland, a position she has held since December 6, 2022. Before her election to the County Council, Shields served three terms on the Salisbury City Council. She earned an associate degree from Wor-Wic Community College and attended Salisbury State College. Her professional background includes positions at Peninsula General Hospital, Salisbury State College, Thompson Publishing Group, and The Daily Times. Shields is also active in her community, serving as the Board President of the Chipman Foundation Inc. and as a member of the Wicomico Behavioral Health Council, Local Management Board, Social Services Advisory Board, and the Tri-County Council.
