Sharon Hightower has represented District 1 on the Greensboro City Council since 2013. Before her political career, she had a 30-year career as a Paralegal. Originally from Goldsboro, she attended East Carolina University before moving to Greensboro in 1986. Hightower has served as the president of the North Carolina Black Elected Municipal Officials and is a board member of East Greensboro NOW and the Piedmont Area Regional Transportation (PART).
