Shea M. Backus, born in 1975, is a third-generation Nevadan from Las Vegas and an attorney. She graduated from Clark High School, UC San Diego, and Arizona State University's Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. Backus is an incumbent Democratic member of the Nevada State Assembly, representing District 37, having served from 2018-2020 and currently since 2022. She is running for re-election to continue advocating for education, economic growth, clean energy, and affordable healthcare, housing, and prescription drug costs for Nevadans, and has championed historic education funding. She is married to Marc.
