Shelley Moore Capito is the senior United States Senator from West Virginia, first elected in 2014. She previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives (2001–2015) and the West Virginia House of Delegates (1996–2000). She earned a bachelor's degree from Duke University and an M.Ed. from the University of Virginia, and is the first Republican woman elected to Congress from West Virginia.
