Sheree Sample-Hughes is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Legislative District 37A, which includes portions of Dorchester and Wicomico Counties. She was first elected to the House of Delegates in 2014 and assumed office on January 14, 2015. From 2019 to 2024, she held the leadership position of Speaker Pro Tempore. Before her service in the state legislature, Sample-Hughes was a member of the Wicomico County Council from 2006 to 2014, becoming the first African-American woman to serve in that capacity. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in public relations from Delaware State University and a Master of Science in management-public administration from Wilmington University.
