Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. is the California Secretary of State, appointed in 2020 and elected to a full term in 2022. She is the first Black Secretary of State in California's history. Prior to her appointment, Weber served four terms representing California's 79th Assembly District, where she chaired the Elections and Redistricting Committee. A former professor at San Diego State University for 40 years, she holds a BA, MA, and PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles.
