Sonia A. Garcia

Dr. Sonia Garcia is a Democratic candidate for Montgomery County Council in District 6. A lifelong resident of Montgomery County and a product of its public schools, she is the daughter of Salvadoran immigrants. Garcia holds a Ph.D. and formerly worked as a federal employee at the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Running on a platform of "Neighborhoods First. Accountability Always," she advocates for a government that is more responsive and transparent to its residents. Her campaign emphasizes protecting neighborhoods, strengthening trust, and ensuring that government decisions reflect the needs of the community.
