STEPHEN LYNCH FOR CONGRESS

Stephen F. Lynch is the incumbent U.S. Representative for Massachusetts's 8th Congressional District, first sworn into Congress in October 2001 following the passing of Congressman John Joseph Moakley. Born and raised in the public housing projects of South Boston, he worked 18 years as a structural ironworker and became the youngest president of Boston's Iron Workers Local 7. He earned a bachelor's degree in Construction Management from Wentworth Institute of Technology, a law degree from Boston College Law School, and a Master's in Public Administration from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives (1995–1996) and the Massachusetts State Senate (1996–2001), where he chaired the Joint Committee on Commerce and Labor, and worked as a labor and employment attorney before his election to Congress. He and his wife Margaret continue to live in their lifelong hometown of South Boston.
