Steve Bizzell is a candidate for Johnston County Sheriff in Smithfield, North Carolina — 2026 Primary Election. Running as Republican.

Steve Bizzell is a lifelong resident of Johnston County, from the Pine-Level/Princeton area. He attended Princeton High School and the Coastal Plains Law Enforcement Academy. Prior to being elected Sheriff in November 1998, he managed his family's farm and served as a Special Deputy and later as a Deputy Sheriff, starting in 1980. He is the longest-serving sheriff in Johnston County's history. Bizzell also served as the President of the North Carolina Sheriff's Association for the 2007-2008 term. In 2016, he received the "Order of the Long Leaf Pine," a prestigious award conferred by the Governor of North Carolina.
