Steve Duane

Hello, MPS community!

I'm Steve Duane, lifelong resident of Mason and graduate of the class of '99. I believe strongly in the value of public education and am dedicated to ensuring the stability and success of our schools. I have served the district as a board member for most of the last decade. During that time, I have invested hundreds of hours into learning how to be a better board member through the Michigan Association of School Boards and this year was honored to receive their Master Board Member award. It's a huge commitment that I'm happy to make for our students and staff and I think that extra work shows in the quality of governance and strategic planning I help provide.

In my day job, I'm the Director of Electrical Engineering at Dart Container. I have a lot of experience leading a team and helping people meet their standards and objectives. I have a BS in Electrical Engineering and a Master's of Applied Statistics, so I'm comfortable getting into the numbers to understand test scores, evaluate interventions and curriculum, and stay ahead of education trends and innovations.

I am also a proud member of Tractor Nation, the works class robotics program of Mason Public Schools. I am the electrical mentor for the high school FIRST robotics team the Tractor Technicians, coach of an elementary FIRST LEGO League team, and have been a judge for FIRST across all levels and age groups. It's a fantastic program that teaches STEM skills alongside life skills like professionalism, collaboration, and teamwork. It's one of many gems in Mason's crown and I serve it with the same earnest motivation I bring to the board.

Mason schools are thriving and we have active work in progress to continue building on our achievements and provide the best education possible. I would be honored to continue that with and hope that I will receive your vote this November
