Steve Roberts is a former member of the Kansas State Board of Education, serving District 2 from 2013 to 2021. A licensed math tutor with experience teaching in public and private schools and in the telecommunications industry, he was first elected to the state board in 2012. Roberts is known for his support of school choice, advocating for parental control over funds for their children's education. During his tenure, he faced criticism for using a racial slur at a board meeting and for promoting his tutoring business.
