Steven G. Xiarhos is a Republican State Representative for Massachusetts' 5th Barnstable District, first elected on November 3, 2020 and sworn in on January 6, 2021. A 40-year veteran of the Yarmouth Police Department who retired as Deputy Chief of Police in 2019, he was born and raised in New Bedford and is a graduate of Anna Maria College, Northeastern University, and Cape Cod Community College. He is a Gold Star Father in honor of his son, Marine Nicholas Xiarhos, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2009, and founded Big Nick's Ride for the Fallen. He lives in Barnstable and serves on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod.
