Sydney Jeanene Batch

Sydney Batch is a family law attorney, child welfare advocate, and social worker. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English, a Juris Doctor, and a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After law school, she co-founded the law firm Batch, Poore & Williams, PC, with her husband, where she focuses on family and child welfare law. Batch was first elected to the NC House of Representatives in 2018. In January 2021, she was appointed to the NC Senate for District 17 and was subsequently reelected. In December 2024, her peers elected her to serve as the Senate Democratic Leader.
