Syna Dennis

Syna Dennis was appointed as a Judge to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County by Governor Gavin Newsom, assuming office on May 5, 2025. Prior to her appointment, she served as a Commissioner in the Los Angeles Superior Court starting in 2023. Her career also includes extensive service in the Los Angeles County Counsel's Office, where she was a Principal Deputy County Counsel from 2005 to 2023 and a Senior Deputy County Counsel from 1999 to 2005. She began her legal career as an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Atkins and Evans, where she worked from 1989 to 1999. Dennis earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. She was also the president of the Black Women Lawyers association from 2006 to 2007.
