Tamara Bavendam

Tamara Bavendam, a Democrat, is running for the Tennessee House of Representatives to represent District 66 in the August 6, 2026 primary election. She is challenging incumbent Sabi Kumar. Bavendam brings a background in health sciences, having served as a Senior Scientific Officer at the National Institutes of Health until March 2021 and as a Global Medical Director for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. She is an alumna of the University of Iowa and has received a Lifetime Achievement Award and a Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction. She is based in Nashville.
