Thomas Peterson is an incumbent Republican member of the Utah House of Representatives, representing District 1 since September 2022. He is seeking re-election in the 2026 general election, having advanced unopposed from the Republican convention. Born in Brigham City and raised in Perry, Utah, Peterson's background includes work as an electrician and contractor. Prior to his state legislative service, he held local government roles, including two terms on the Brigham City Council from 2014 to 2021. He also served as an assistant state building official and later a state building official. Peterson is currently involved in legislative committees, notably serving as vice chair on the House Public Utilities and Energy Committee and the Economic and Community Development Appropriations Subcommittee.
