Thomasina Coates is a Democratic leader in Maryland, currently serving as the County Commissioner for District 2 in Charles County since her election in 2018. A native of the county, she previously served on the Charles County Democratic Central Committee, including as Vice-Chair. Coates holds a Master's degree in Information Technology Management and is the President and CEO of a trucking company and co-owner of a real estate business. Her public service also includes time on the Board of License Commissioners. She is a member of the Charles County Chapter of the NAACP.
