Timothy J. Cruz has served as Plymouth County District Attorney since November 2001, when he was appointed by Governor Jane Swift; he was elected in 2002 and re-elected to four-year terms in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022. A lawyer for 41 years, he began as an Assistant District Attorney in Plymouth County in 1985, then practiced privately in Brockton. He is a graduate of Boston College and Suffolk University Law School and lives in Marshfield with his wife Rose Marie and their two sons, Tim and Alex.
