Timothy Jennings has served as the mayor of Roswell since March 2022. Previously, he was a Chaves County commissioner from 1975 to 1978 and a New Mexico State Senator for 34 years, where he also served as Senate Pro Tem. Born and raised in Roswell, he graduated from the New Mexico Military Institute, earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Creighton University, and took agriculture courses at New Mexico State University. He has a background as a rancher, raising sheep and cattle.
