She also served as the civic engagement director for the non-profit LAVoice. McKinnor earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and an Associate's Degree in business administration and accounting from Los Angeles Southwest College. She is a mother of two adult sons.
