Tola Marts was first elected to the Issaquah City Council in 2009 and was re-elected in 2013, 2017, and 2021. He has served as Council President multiple times. He is an aerospace engineering executive with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He previously worked at Blue Origin and Intellectual Ventures Lab. He grew up in upstate New York and Minnesota and lives on Squak Mountain.
