Tom Leatherwood is an incumbent Republican member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing District 99. He assumed office in November 2018, and his current term concludes in November 2026. He is currently seeking re-election in the Republican primary on August 6, 2026. Prior to his legislative service, Leatherwood served as the Shelby County Register of Deeds from 2000 to 2018. During his tenure in the House, he has been assigned to various committees, including Education Instruction, Health (where he served as Vice Chair), State Government, Local Government, and Naming and Designating. He has sponsored legislation, including a bill related to verifying U.S. citizenship for public benefits applicants. Leatherwood has also publicly pledged his support for congressional term limits.
