Born and raised in Detroit, she holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. Prior to her election, Myers Phillips worked as an attorney and public policy advisor, including serving as the director of community partnerships at the Sugar Law Center and on the Detroit Charter Revision Commission.
