Tripp Narup, a Democrat, is a Villisca City Councilman running for Iowa House District 18. A St. Louis native, he earned a bachelor's degree from Macalester College in 1979 and worked in medical publishing for over two decades before retiring in Villisca. Narup is campaigning on the slogan “More Common Sense, and More Common Courtesy,” motivated by a belief that state conditions need improvement and he can offer a better choice to voters. He opposes the six-week abortion ban and book bans in schools. His platform also advocates for improved school funding, expresses concern over the state’s budget, and seeks change in the agriculture sector. He previously ran for the Iowa Senate in 2022 and the Iowa House in 2024.
