Troy Downing is a 59-year-old Republican currently serving his first term as the U.S. Representative for Montana's 2nd Congressional District, having assumed office on January 3, 2025. He is seeking re-election in the 2026 Republican primary. Throughout his tenure, Downing has focused on natural resources, co-sponsoring legislation for clean water systems and forest management, and advocating for energy and resource jobs. He also champions housing initiatives, introducing the Whole-Home Repairs Act and a bill to reauthorize the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act. Downing has demonstrated a strong voting record, missing only a small fraction of roll call votes.
