Is this you? Claim this profileTyrone M. Ruffin was born and raised in Hertford County and graduated from Hertford County High School in 2005. He completed the Basic Law Enforcement Program at Halifax Community College in 2007. In 2019, he graduated from Pitt Community College with an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice Technology. Ruffin began his career at the Bertie County Sheriff's Office in December 2020 and was elected Sheriff on November 8, 2022. He holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate, the highest honor for a law enforcement officer in North Carolina. In January 2023, he was appointed by Governor Roy Cooper to serve on the Juvenile Justice Crime Committee. He is also a member of the Martin Community College Criminal Advisory Committee and the Bertie County Superintendent's Community Advisory Board.
