Valdenia C. Winn, born December 7, 1950, in Kansas City, Kansas, is an accomplished politician and educator. She earned multiple degrees from the University of Kansas and has been a community college professor since 1972. A Democrat, Winn has served as the incumbent Member of the Kansas House of Representatives for the 34th district since 2001, and previously held positions as House Assistant Democratic Leader. She also serves as Vice President of the Kansas City Kansas Public Schools Board of Education. Known for her outspokenness, she characterized a 2015 tuition bill as "racist, sexist, fear-mongering." She is seeking re-election in the Democratic primary.
